The observatory is physically located at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wise_Observatory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wise Observatory<\/a>\u00a0near the town of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mitzpe_Ramon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mitzpe Ramon<\/a>, and is operated by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/physics.haifa.ac.il\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of Physics<\/a>\u00a0at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.haifa.ac.il\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University of Haifa<\/a>\u00a0in collaboration with the technical team of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/physics.tau.ac.il\/astrophysics\/wise_observatory\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wise Observatory<\/a>. \u00a0The observatory was established with the support of the Israeli Science Foundation, and focuses on the photometric and polarimetric monitoring of the sky, with a particular emphasis on uncovering the physics underlying the active phase of supermassive black holes in galaxy centers. The telescope is the second largest single-aperture telescope in
